Hosted by the NMG Founder Tim Willett, whose tireless efforts to promote new music in the region culminates into this fantastic Awards Ceremony where we celebrate talented musicians, songwriters, singers and bands all in one big space.
Each category had a list of nominees and the short-list of five were displayed on screen with a snippet and the winner was announced by the category sponsor. All this interspersed with live music while being streamed on Facebook.
To kick off the evening and get everyone in the mood were the Shambertans, a four-piece guitar band from Cambridge. Other live acts included Kaspar Larsen with his great vocals, Mulholland Jive a nine-piece group giving us some funky jazzy jivey vibes, The Islas with their indie tracks, Ffion Rebecca sung perfectly and performed a track with Grace Calver and Susanna Serrano to stun the audience, Three Years Younger showcased how much they have grown into a four piece and Amethysts closed the show with their fun electronic sound beats.

We had a few extra surprises, like Red Wine Talk’s new video ‘Anit-Romance’ was launched this night which we all enjoyed and can see this group going far.
We also had Ellie Dixon in the room and she gave us a performance of her track ‘Space Out!’. Ellie has been part of the scene and these awards since she was 15 years old and she has just this year singed with Decca Records. The future is bright and we wish Ellie the best of success.
Additional development prizes were awarded to help the nominees on their musical careers and included fantastically generous things like van hire, studio time, merch bundles, main stage slots, single production and headline slots.
These things don’t happen without sponsors, so let’s thank them here:
Brewboard, Women Making Waves, Alex & Jude Talk, The Hunter Club, Grapevine Magazine, Headline Records, North Acre Recording Studio, The Portland Arms
These awards are a very warm, friendly and inclusive group of people all encouraging others to do well and pursue their musical careers. People were genuinely thrilled for each other as winners were being announced and speeches given – there was no rivalry.
Another spectacular NMG Awards with huge congratulations to all the nominees, winners, sponsors, performers and everyone involved to make this such a fantastic night. Well done Tim.
